The new NOII NSW logo was launched at the 2018 Symposium. We are proud to have commissioned the amazing Shekara Hartnett to tell the NOII NSW story through this image.

I am a Gumbaynggirr/Wangkumara woman based in the Inner West of Sydney. The Gumbaynggirr people of the mid North Coast of NSW are the people of the mountains and ocean, where the fresh water meets the salt water.
The Wangkumara people of the far North West of NSW and the South West of QLD, are the people of the outback where the land is dry and flat with open plains and a never ending night sky.
My inspiration is my knowledge, love and connection to my culture, the land and universe. It’s not only a medium to express cultural consciousness but to tell a story.
My art reflects these aspects of my life to be passed onto generations. My technique of dot painting and the use of bright colours shows the true beauty of not just Aboriginal culture and art, but of the pure essence of life.
Art was always a hobby and I never thought about doing anything professional with my art until I attended Eora Tafe.
Being at Tafe has encouraged me to be more ambitious and that my art is more than just a painting, it is a piece of me, a piece of my cultural heritage and a legacy for my future generations.
